CambridgeLight Partners and its affiliates CambridgeLight Associates and Cambridge Light and Power is a seed and early stage venture capital firm located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Our principals have decades of venture capital and private equity investing experience. They have funded dozens of technology based companies, many of which have successfully gone public or been acquired. Our reputation is one of capable lead investors, helpful partners and creative problem solvers.

We focus on very early stage high potential companies with a global perspective in selected growth industries, including telecommunications, software, electronics, business services, and Internet infrastructure.

Investment Criteria
· Technology: We invest in companies developing applications for new technologies or applying existing technologies to new areas in proprietary and innovative ways. While we expect the founders of these companies to have world-class expertise and experience in the relevant domain, we are pleased to work with and support such technologists who bring extraordinary ideas but who may be lacking in business experience.

· Stage: No venture is too early for us. We often start the discussion with just an entrepreneur and an idea. We work with our portfolio companies to fully develop their business plans.

· Team: We don’t require that you have a complete team. Given our focus on very early stage companies we often get involved before our entrepreneurs have been able to build out their teams. Our venture experience and contacts in the entrepreneurial community enable us to help round out management teams once we decide to invest.

· Liquidity: We, as do most venture investors, require that our investments have the potential to become suitable for an IPO at the appropriate time, at the same time recognizing that the majority of liquidity events will ultimately result from acquisitions

· Investment Size: A critical element of our work with entrepreneurs is to help determine the amount of money needed to prove to potential customers, suppliers, employees and investors that both the company’s business model and its technology work in a manner which will enable them to raise significant additional financing. We generally lead initial rounds of $1 million or less and we work to identify suitable co-investors. We will also participate in seed rounds led by other investors if the opportunity otherwise meets our criteria. Our portfolio companies generally expect to raise at least $25 million in a series of rounds before an IPO or other liquidity event.

· Geography: There are an increasing number of countries that are experiencing high economic growth and are developing favorable policies for entrepreneurship. Some of our portfolio companies focus on the U.S. market first, while others will find their earliest success elsewhere. In order to provide our customary high degree of interaction with the management teams of our portfolio companies we prefer investments with their primary location in the greater Boston area. When the best business opportunities are elsewhere, we support developing those opportunities through local subsidiaries or affiliates.
